Happy 2019!

December 31, 2018

Wow, it’s been over 5 years since the last Bull Raker post! Time flies when you’re having fun doing nerdy math/computer stuff like running sports simulations and learning Cybersecurity.

Sorry, I must have dozed off. Anyhow, like Rip Van Winkle, I’m back from my nap a little grayer and more than a little weirded out by the world around me.

Here’s something to keep you awake until the ball drops tonight and if anybody’s still out there in the blog-o-sphere, I wish you all a Happy New Year!

Electromagnetic Frequency (EMF) radiation is listed as a possible carcinogen by the World Health Organization. Here are some helpful tips to reduce your exposure to EMF radiation emitted from cell phones.

Basic tips:

  • Don’t hold or store the phone near your body.
  • Text more, talk less.
  • Use speakerphone whenever possible and air tube headphones for all other calls.
  • Turn airplane mode on and WiFi routers off whenever possible.

Advanced tips:

  • Sign up for free Voice Over IP (VOIP) phone services like Google Voice and Google Hangouts.
  • Send/receive calls and texts through the VOIP services whenever possible.
  • Access VOIP services only via a wired connection to a PC, a wired mobile device* or a VOIP phone adapter like an ObiHai box.
  • Shift to a less expensive cell plan/provider if you see the switch to VOIP services significantly cuts back your cell data usage. Freedom Pop, for example, is a SIM-only phone service that offers free data plans… So it’s possible to not only reduce your EMF exposure but your phone bills too!

*To wire a mobile device, connect it to the Internet directly if the device has a built-in Ethernet port, or indirectly via adapters like Apple’s USB Ethernet Adapter and Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter.

Good luck on your EMF radiation reduction journey!
